I can't recommend this set too highly because it can be used with Lester Walker's "Block Building for Children." People sometimes think that you should just hand a set of blocks to a child and go, but there are many lessons to learn along the way and a good book is a stimulus to more enjoyable play. Blocks are much more complicated than people think. They are the manifest example of modularity. The book helps. Parents can learn a great deal from the book to help initiate more complicated structures.
